◆The Marine Day◆

The Marine Day was enacted in 1995. It is a holiday of the Japanese citizens.

Japan surrounded by the sea produced a unique culture as a maritime nation.

Fishes and shellfishes, a blessing from the sea, have become Japanese food ingredients, creating a Japanese food which is a world-famous in food culture.

The Marine Day was enacted as a day to wish for the prosperity of Japan while appreciating the benefits of the sea.

Initially, The Marine Day was July 20, but in 2003 this holiday was changed to the third Monday of July.

The Marine Day in 2018 is Monday, July 16.
